Brixton

I really love my neighborhood. It's incredibly diverse and has a really rich history. Doesn't have a very good reputation, so I am surprised that lately there have been tour groups stomping through the high street. The first group I saw about a week ago. 30 or 40 European adults, clutching there bags as they walked down the street, in the middle of the day. Two days ago there was a large group of teenagers who seemed more interested in looking at each other than their surroundings. They arrived in the middle of the morning commute, and exited their double-decker tourist bus where my bus usually comes. In the morning the sidewalk is always jammed. Lately they have been doing construction, so the 4 lanes of foot traffic are reduced to 2. 60-something teenagers lined up in front of morley's didn't help anything. Traffic was too heavy so I jumped on the tube instead. By then the large group was down there buying tickets. Luckily none of them were on my train.

I leave in 20 days. Still have 2 essays to read for/write, 2 exams (1 before and 1 during my trip) to study for/take, 1 bedroom to sublet, MANY PEOPLE OF EMAIL. I don't find out about funding until right before/right after I leave. It will be a stressful couple of weeks, but perhaps that means I will revive this blog? Stuff has happened this year. I have learned a lot and grown a lot and questioned a lot of things. Just didn't feel like writing it all down. But it's been a long time and I am out of practice. Perhaps this will help me reflect.
