I'm back in Jordan

I've been busy. Not so much writing. My time has been filled with my new internship, and then I left for the other side for 2 weeks to work the Israel Ride. I hope someday soon I will be able to reflect on the experience in a cool/calm way...


It's just that I was very busy and got stressed out. It was nice to see old friends and make some new ones. I can't beleive i got sucked into the Arava cult. I didn't think I would.







Uploading pictures is fun. Thank goodness for fast connections. Maybe I will try to add pics to old blog entries, like stuff from Tunisia.

Back over the bridge.

Im back in Jerusalem to work for the bike ride. Experiencing intense
culture shock. Spent shabbat with family friends. it had been months
and months. Am supposed to connect with people, but somehow it is not
working out. Go figure. Oy....

Amman News...

Back from Tunisia. The semester started- I'm now in level 4 (of 7). I feel advanced. There are about 30 people in the class, which is not so cool, and a lot of the vocab is translated directly into English, which is even less cool. One teacher is great and we do journalism and read articles and my understanding of Al-Jazeera and BBC news on the radio has gone way up in just 2 weeks. The other teachers is not so great. So far we have read a dumb story full of useless Koranic Arabic. Apparently our old teacher told one of my classmates the work is dumb, and we should move up to level 5. But I am scared to go so high so fast, I would rather take it slow and get the vocab right and a grammar review. It doesn't look likely that they will split the class.
Tuesday was my birthday. An adventure, which was nice. It had been a while. Ladies night out - a nice change from hanging out with sketchy guys.
Friday afternoon in the city. Very quiet. And it seems close to 70. Will check out the market, then sit in a cafe and do some work. I am way behind on vocab. What do I do now? I don't have the distractions of my neighbor any longer. I miss it...

Happy New Year!

The parents are in town, and last week we traveled all around the country. Good times. A good test of my Arabic skills, but sometimes it got frustrating to always be the one doing the communicating.

Ended up in Aqaba for Arava Alumni meeting, and stayed a couple of days to celebrate New Years Eve with the crew, and a friend. It’s nice to spend New Years with someone, for a change.

I plan to stay for the next semester, and really try to find a job to stay longer. Another Eid is coming up, so I will probably go back to Israel. And then semester break in Tunisia. Life is tough in the Middle East...

I need to finish my post about adventures in Hebron, and will try to update this thing more often...
